Canola Oil-The Worst Oil For Your Health?
I came across this article in the Daily Mail about Canola Oil today and I decided I would discuss it on the blog.
There are many oils available on the market, however, scientists are constantly undertaking research to establish which oils are healthiest and safest for our health and which are not.
There will always been arguments for and against food products, such as the recent debate as to whether coconut oil, due to its high saturated fat content, really was beneficial for our health or not.
However, in today's news article, the Daily Mail was discussing the study in which scientists examined the health risks of canola oil.
Canola oil is one of the least expensive vegetable oils and it is heavily marketed as healthy due to its low saturated fat. While canola oil may have decent nutrient profile, this does not mean that it is the healthiest oil for you to consume in the long term.
The researchers results revealed how using this one vegetable oil was detrimental to brain health, could worsen symptoms of dementia and cause weight gain.
The study showed that the oil may increase the build-up of plaques in the brain, a hallmark of the degenerative disease.

Simply because canola oil is marketed as healthy, as a result of its low saturated fat does not mean it is healthy for you. Studies show virgin and extra virgin olive oil are the healthiest oils.
